If you are already registered to vote in Texas but have moved, you can update your voting address online. Start by looking up your VUID number at the link above. You'll also need your drivers license and last four digits of your SSN.

Learn How to Register to Vote

Texas does not allow online registration. To register to vote you must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years old by Election Day and be at least 17 years, 10 months old.

Complete an application using the SOS ONLINE VOTER REGISTRATION APPLICATION. You will need to print the form, fill in the required information, sign and MAIL the completed application directly to your county election office; OR
Request a PRINTED APPLICATION. The Secretary of State office will mail a postage-paid voter registration application to the address provided; OR
Register at a Voter Registration Drive by a Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR) OR

Voter ID Requirements

You must bring an ID with you to vote in person.
Accepted IDs include:

Driver’s License or ID Card
Election ID Certificate
Texas Handgun License
U.S. Military ID with photo
Citizenship Certificate with photo
U.S. Passport

Federal Post Card Application (FPCA)

Who can use the Federal Postcard Application (FPCA)?

Active duty military, spouses, and dependents (voting from outside the home Texas county)
U.S. citizens (nonmilitary) temporarily overseas* away from the home Texas county
Members of the merchant marine, spouses, and dependents (voting from outside the home Texas county)
Members of the Texas National Guard, spouses, and dependents (voting from outside the home Texas county)
Members of a National Guard of another state, spouses, and dependents (voting from outside the home Texas county)
Members of the military reserves on active duty, spouses, and dependents (voting from outside the home Texas county)

*Federal law defines “overseas” as anywhere outside the United States.

Ballot by Mail

You may know it as "vote by mail" or "mail-in voting" but the official language in Texas is "Ballot by Mail" sometimes abbreviated as BBM.

Voters who are eligible to request a Ballot by Mail include those over 65, voters with disabilities, expectant mothers near Election Day, those absent from the county, and individuals confined in jail.

Print the Application for Ballot by Mail or request one be mailed to you.

Instructions:

1. Complete Sections 1. DO NOT FORGET TO FILL IN THE GRAY AREA IN SECTION ONE THE RIGHT.
2. Complete Sections 2 and 3. Notice in there are 2 sides to each section, so read it over carefully before you start filling it out.
3. Sign and Date Section 4. If you are unable to sign the application and someone witnessed your signature, that person must complete Section 5.
4. Applications can be faxed (254-933-6754) or emailed (Elections@bellcounty.texas.gov) to the Bell County Elections Department. If faxed or emailed, the original must also be mailed within four days.
5. Fold, AFFIX POSTAGE and mail to the county where you are registered to vote. For Bell County, mail to Bell County Elections Department P.O. Box 1629 Belton, Texas 76513. For all other counties find the address here.

Ballot Deadline: Ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. Postmarks do not count.

Voting Assistance
& Accessibility

Curbside Voting:

If a voter is physically unable to enter the polling place, he or she may ask that an election officer bring a ballot to the entrance of the polling place or to a car parked at the curbside.

Voting Assistance at the polls:

If you need assistance at the polls, tell the election official if you are a voter who needs help to vote. You do not have to provide proof of your disability.

Voters may be assisted by any person the voter chooses or an election worker.

Voters MAY NOT be assisted by:

Their employer;
An agent of their employer; or
An officer or agent of their union.

Interpreters:

Voters who cannot speak English, or who communicate only with sign language, may use an interpreter to help them communicate with election officials, regardless of whether the election official(s) attending to the voter can speak the same language as the voter. The voter may be assisted by any person the voter chooses.

Voters MAY NOT be assisted by:
